The elite DPR special forces battalion celebrated its fifth anniversary
The 1st Guards Special Forces Battalion of the DPR celebrated the fifth anniversary of its formation.
This was reported on the official website of the head of the republic, Denis Pushilin, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The ceremonial event in honor of the battalion’s anniversary, held on Saturday, February 1, began with the removal of the Battle Banner, then the head of the DPR addressed those present.
“Congratulations on the fifth anniversary of the creation of the battalion! The period is considerable. A very significant path has been covered, and, of course, you need to give it its due. You made your choice without hesitation. Risking your life, your health, you protect your native land.
Behind you are the residents of the Donetsk People's Republic, who are grateful to you. The younger generations are looking up to you. One thing can be said with confidence: you are worthy of your heroic ancestors, our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, who defended our land 75 years ago,” Pushilin said.
For the courage and heroism shown during the performance of special tasks, the best of the best were awarded state awards of the Donetsk People's Republic - the insignia “For Services to the Republic”, the insignia “St. George Cross” of III and IV degrees, after which those gathered observed a minute of silence in memory dead battalion soldiers.
“Of course, not all operations that the battalion performs are subject to disclosure. But one cannot fail to note his contribution to the impeccable execution of the most complex and important tasks, alas, with losses. Today we also remember those who, defending their people, sacrificed the most precious thing - their lives,” the head of the DPR later noted in his Telegram channel.
