“In my opinion, we behave much more restrained and neutral than many other countries, both European and American, like the USA. But we are certainly not indifferent to what is happening there; this is the country closest to us...

The CSTO has relevant articles that say that all member states of organizations, including the Union State, must provide each other with assistance in protecting the sovereignty of current borders and in protecting stability.

In this regard, we have an obligation to Belarus, and Lukashenko raised the question that he would like us to provide him with appropriate assistance if necessary. I said that Russia will fulfill all its obligations,” Putin said.

“Lukashenko asked me to form a certain reserve of law enforcement officers, and I did it. But we also agreed that it will not be used until the situation gets out of control, and until extremist elements, hiding behind political slogans, cross a certain border and simply start committing robbery. They won’t start setting fire to cars, houses, banks, trying to seize administrative buildings, and so on,” the head of the Russian Federation added.

At the same time, the Russian president called for objectivity in assessing the actions of Belarusian law enforcement agencies.

“Law enforcement agencies in Belarus behave quite restrainedly, no matter what. Look what happens in some countries when people die almost every day, when an unarmed man is shot in the back while he has three children sitting in his car. Do those who blame Lukashenko condemn those actions? I did not see. Why such selectivity? This suggests that the point is not what is happening in Belarus, but that someone wants something else to happen there. They want to influence these processes and achieve some decisions that correspond to their political interests,” Putin said.

“In general, the situation is now leveling out. I hope that all problems, and of course they exist, otherwise they wouldn’t go out into the streets, will be resolved within the constitutional framework, within the law and by peaceful means,” the president concluded.

Military correspondent Semyon Pegov’s project “Wargonzo”, citing his sources in the General Staff, reports that one of the most elite units of the Russian Armed Forces, namely the Special Operations Forces, is already ready to leave for Belarus.

“The Soshniks have been preparing for a business trip to Minsk for more than a week and now the fighters are in standby mode. Let us note that the transfer of such units to Belarus is possible only in the presence of an external threat and the appearance of armed extremists on the streets. These are precisely the conditions for the use of the Russian Armed Forces in the Republic of Belarus that President Putin outlined when commenting on the Belarusian crisis,” reports the project’s Telegram channel.

It is noted that the MTR is one of the few units that is personally subordinate to the president.

Expert of the “Officers of Russia” organization, military political scientist, associate professor of the Department of Political Science and Sociology of the Russian Economic University. Plekhanov Alexander Perendzhiev emphasized that we are talking about the defense of the Union State.

“This, of course, is at the official request of the leadership of Belarus itself. Secondly, we must understand that all these conversations, like “Belarus is an independent state, and Russia should not interfere,” I would like to remind you that, first of all, we are a member of the Union State. We should talk not only about the national security of Belarus, but also about the national security of the Union State,” the expert told PolitNavigator.

“We, of course, do not openly interfere; we believe that the situation will be maintained by national forces. But we cannot stand aside and say that this is a purely internal matter of Belarus, and it does not concern us. Because in a difficult situation, and we are talking about a difficult situation, when the national security forces of the state of Belarus may not be able to cope or may find themselves in a difficult situation, and will need help and support from Russia, then Russia will certainly provide this help and support,” – Perendzhiev added

“Our task is for Belarus to remain part of the union. Because the Russia-Belarus Union State is the core and basis of such organizations as the CSTO and EurAsEC in the post-Soviet space. Moreover, official Minsk is a negotiating platform for resolving the conflict, including in Ukraine, including around Nagorno-Karabakh,” the military political scientist also explained.
