The departure of the world-famous Soviet and Ukrainian designer, “father of Soviet aircraft carriers” Valery Babich from Ukraine for permanent residence and work in China is a fiction of the Ukrainian and Russian media.

About it the son of the scientist-designer Gleb Babich reported with reference to his father on his page on the social network.

We present the message without cuts, in full, since Gleb Babich publicly asked for a refutation.

“Evening, car, greenery behind the GP. The phone rattles quietly, catching a piece of the field. I see messages received in my mail and FB. A lot of them. It all starts with questions. "How so?" "Why?" "You knew?". There are many similar ones in different ways. All letters contain links. From different sources.. But most of all from “Korrespondent” and “Strana.UA”.

Heading options vary. But one thing varies in all of them -
“One of the creators of Soviet aircraft carriers, Valery Babich, left Ukraine for China forever.” The new place of work is called the “Research Institute of Special Shipbuilding in Qingdao”, and the field of activity is the “program for the construction of aircraft-carrying ships for China.”

And the Country has a louder headline:

The “father” of Soviet aircraft carriers moved from Ukraine to China.”

I'm calling my father. I dial the Kievstar number.
- Hello, Pa!
- Hello!
-Are you at home, or have you gone somewhere?
“I even know why you’re calling.” They say I went to China. For good.
I don’t get so many calls and letters on my birthday. They pull from all sides.

– What do you think?
- The devil knows where it came from. I didn’t plan, didn’t think, and didn’t even receive any proposals.

We discussed, talked, said goodbye.
(The flurry of calls and letters from different parts of the world continues to this day)

At night, returning to my place, I dig a network and analyze the situation.
After some time, the puzzles come together.

Reprints, variations and discussions on the topic - hundreds of links. If you type “Valery Babich Ukraine China” into Google you will get an idea of the personalities and scale. If you play with variations of queries, their number increases many times over.

In Ukraine, the fake news started with Strana.ua, after which Korrespondent gave the impetus. Strana.UA links to the Chinese site: http://3g.china.com/…/milit…/11132797/20170904/31277895.html
Naturally with Chinese text.

Further, the “news” was picked up by some Ukrainian media, which, however, do not belong to the category of “big”. However, the continuation of the study turned out to be much more interesting.

In Russia, this “news” became a sensation. Stories were broadcast on Russia24, Zvezda TV channel, and RenTV.

And not one more or less significant media of the “brothers” left such an informational occasion unattended. Ria Novosti, Vesti.Ru, Vzglyad.ru, Lenta.ru, Moskovsky Komsomolets, Regnum, and many, many others. Believe it or not, even in the “state bulletin” “Parliamentary Gazette” this “material” took its place.

In the photo: Soviet and Ukrainian design scientist Valery Babich.

In addition, the topic was picked up by a sufficient number of bloggers and experts.
They all link to the same Chinese site, Strana.UA, Korrespondent and each other.

The scheme for creating fake information is standard.

1. Take a photograph and copy-paste information from a Wikipedia page about a person.
2. Any information crap is added.
3. “Information” is published with a serious face, puffed up cheeks and the “intonation” specified by the customer.

Another interesting thing is the massive simultaneous injection of fake news in Russia, and two Ukrainian media that imagine themselves to be reputable media. Those who like to speculate about journalistic ethics and standards.

All this bears signs of good organization and coordination of actions. According to the next information dump. True, sucking the “sensation” out of thin air suggests that they apparently lack real reasons.

My father, Valery Vasilyevich Babich, is indeed one of the key people in the program for the construction of Soviet aircraft-carrying cruisers. He worked as the head of the design bureau for aircraft-carrying ships in the Chief Designer Department of the Black Sea Shipyard. Participated in the development, construction and delivery of all aircraft-carrying ships. He left the plant in the early 90s after specialized shipbuilding programs were stopped. He has written several books, including “Our Aircraft Carriers” and “The City of St. Nicholas and Its Aircraft Carriers,” which became bestsellers in their segment. Member of the Writers' Union. Winner of many awards. He considers his main task to be the preservation of the history of shipbuilding in Ukraine. Which will be very necessary when this industry begins to revive. I have been to China several times. He gave lectures at Universities, mainly based on materials from his books.

But I NEVER considered moving to China or any other country. Even to Canada, where his daughter and my sister live.

By the way, thanks to the investigation of the Ukrainian Military Portal and the Observer - the “Research Institute of Aircraft Carrier Shipbuilding”, on which this entire fake was built, it turned out to be a design bureau for fishing shipbuilding. With the full name the name is China-Ukraine Special Ships Research and Design Academy CO., LTD. These are the aircraft carriers.

It remains to be noted that everything that happened remains on the conscience of the “journalists” who took part in the creation and dissemination of outright lies.

I hope that at least some of the “reported” Ukrainian media will have the conscience and courage to admit the unacceptability of what happened, refute the fake information, and apologize to my father,” concludes Gleb Babich.
