The situation with the incidence of measles in Ukraine is becoming staggering - in the first month of 2018 alone, almost half of the total number of cases from last year fell ill in the country.

The acting director announced this on Channel 5. Minister of Health Ulyana Suprun, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
At first, the American minister announced 6,5 thousand cases of illness since the beginning of the year, but later corrected herself, emphasizing that this is the figure since August 2017, that is, for six months. At the same time, she emphasized that about 600-800 people fall ill with measles every week, calling this figure “stable.”
“That’s quite a lot in such a short period of time. But the hope is that it decreases in areas where there has been more disease and increases in those where there is not a high level of vaccination. For example, Zaparpatye, which has the lowest level of vaccination in the whole country... And then there are diseases, but they, let’s say, have stabilized. Every week, 600 to 800 people get sick,” Suprun said.
A week ago, at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, Suprun reported that for the entire 2017 year, 4,7 thousand cases of measles were recorded:
“In two weeks of 2018, 1285 adults and children have already fallen ill. Most cases were registered in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Chernivtsi, Transcarpathian, and Odessa regions.”
