The epidemic is affecting vast sections of Russian society
In Russia, the epidemiological situation related to the spread of coronavirus infection is worsening.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, infectious disease doctor, director of the Scientific Information Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Viral Infections, Georgy Vikulov, said this when the epidemic subsides.
“I think we are not at the peak yet, the situation is alarming and the number of cases will increase. Accordingly, even stricter control and higher requirements for compliance with quarantine measures are needed. This also applies to the use of personal protective equipment and social distancing of people,” the doctor said.
The publication asked why the second wave in Russia turned out to be larger, given that in Italy and Spain there are no longer the previous terrible mortality figures.
“Firstly, this is not a second wave, but a continuation of the first. Secondly, the current mortality rate in European countries is still higher than in Russia. And in terms of per million inhabitants, the morbidity situation there is also more severe. Therefore, to say that the picture has changed radically is incorrect and incorrect,” notes the publication’s interlocutor.
“Unfortunately, yes, our mortality rate has increased, and this is one of the ominous signs. This suggests that the epidemic is affecting vast sections of society. I think that by the end of the year most people will encounter the virus in Russia. But, at the same time, in this way an immune layer is formed that will limit the spread of the virus,” Vikulov hopes.
