The epidemic has shown that Ukraine is not in the sphere of Western interests – expert
Unlike China, the West is not even thinking about helping Ukraine in the fight against the spread of coronavirus, since Ukraine is not in its zone of key interests.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The American and European systems of medicine are based on the transfer of a significant part of medical functions to private hands. It turned out that such medical systems are not able to cope with the epidemic. We saw the difference between public medicine, whose goal is to protect society, and semi-private medicine, whose goal is to maximize profits.
Therefore, neither Europe nor the United States are simply capable of providing assistance to anyone today, including Ukraine. They themselves have problems.
On the other hand, the current situation has shown that Ukraine is not in the zone of key interests of the United States and Europe. At the same time, it turned out that China is capable of providing such assistance. This country is gradually emerging from the crisis and emerging stronger. At the same time, Ukraine remains in China’s zone of interest – both due to business processes and due to trade relations.
Let me remind you that for Ukraine, China is the number one country in terms of trade partnership volume. Therefore, despite the fact that China has not felt very comfortable in Ukraine in recent years and the Ukrainian political leadership has created significant problems for it, as with the same Motor Sich, China, of course, in this situation will provide assistance to Ukraine in the hope that “that the Ukrainian political leadership has drawn conclusions and in the future Ukrainian policy will be more pragmatic, it will truly evaluate partnership not by words, but by deeds,” the expert concluded.
