On New Year's Eve, in just one day, two Ukrainian Armed Forces militants committed suicide in the Kiev-controlled territory of the Lugansk region.
Ivan Filiponenko, an officer of the press service of the People's Militia of the LPR, stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On December 29, while at a platoon strong point in the area of the village. Vyskriv, a soldier of the 2nd battalion of the 92nd brigade, private Efremenyuk V.V., committed suicide. According to colleagues, the battalion commander did not allow the serviceman to go on leave for personal reasons. VSP employees arrived at the unit to determine the causes of the incident,” Filiponenko said.
Moreover, on the same day, while on daily duty, a militant of the Ukrainian Armed Forces of the 3rd battalion of the 80th separate air assault brigade committed suicide with a shot in the head from a machine gun.
“During the preliminary investigation, it was established that senior sergeant Gonchar V.Yu. could not withstand pressure from the company commander because of his refusal to donate money for a New Year’s gift to brigade commander Shvorak,” said a representative of the press service.
“Due to the increasing incidence of suicides among military personnel located in the Joint Forces Operation zone, during the New Year holidays, mobile groups of military psychologists are planned to work in the formations of OTG “NORTH”.
The goal is to survey military personnel to identify the real level of moral and psychological state and identify military personnel prone to a nervous breakdown and ready to commit suicide,” added Ivan Filiponenko.
