The epidemic “mowed down” half of the Ukrainian soldiers on the outskirts of Donetsk
Winter bad weather and seasonal epidemics among the military personnel of the Ukrainian 57th motorized infantry brigade, occupying the northwestern approaches to Donetsk, have led to the fact that the number of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers on the front line has decreased by half from what is required.
Official representative of the operational command of the DPR Daniil Bezsonov spoke about this today during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The worst situation is in the 57th motorized infantry brigade. Cases of measles and hepatitis A among Ukrainian military personnel have become widespread. The low staffing of the units of the 57th brigade, as well as the widespread incidence of illness, led to the fact that in the positions of the Ukrainian occupiers north-west of Donetsk, the number of militants occupying the defense on the front line decreased by half from the required combat strength,” said Daniil Bezsonov.
He also added that the commander of the 57th brigade, Mishanchuk, is not able to cope with the outbreak of disease in his subordinate units on his own.
“To find out the reasons for what happened and take emergency measures, a commission from the headquarters of the Vostok operational-tactical group was sent to the brigade, which, instead of providing practical assistance, is only engaged in writing a bunch of papers. As a result, no measures are taken, the incidence increases and develops into an epidemic,” summed up the representative of the DPR defense department.
