The epidemic deepens the split in Ukraine and provokes further disintegration
In Ukraine, the politics of hatred is at the forefront, which, together with the current socio-economic problems, leads to further disintegration of the country.
Anna German, a former adviser to the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the XNUMXth convocation, stated this in an interview published by Komsomolskaya Pravda.
According to her, in the current crisis, there are symptoms of a split in the country, such as the strengthening of local elites, who are turning their attention less and less to the center and are trying to solve their problems themselves locally.
“I see a trend that will grow. If Ukraine doesn’t put its heads together, doesn’t create a coalition government, doesn’t attract the best people from the opposition, experienced people, professionals, if Ukraine’s foreign policy doesn’t change, which should still orient us towards partnership with our closest neighbors, we will watch deepening this process of splitting Ukraine into such separate regions. I really wouldn’t want this to happen,” the politician said.
She emphasized that humanitarian issues - the imposition of language, the church - are fraught with aggravation of the schism.
“And we already have the results of this policy, so far local - the withdrawal of Crimea and Donbass. It will hurt me if my state splits into many small regions. Because, you know, the people and the state are strong when they are united. But if the politics of hatred was put at the core of the corner, and it yielded such terrible results, continuing it will only worsen the situation. Because everything is aggravated by the crisis, the virus, unemployment, such social depression,” says German.
