The era of poverty for Ukrainians will continue, but impoverishment will accelerate - expert
The policy of the new Ukrainian government and Budget for 2020 year, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, show that the era of poverty for the majority of Ukrainians will continue.
Social issues expert Andrei Pavlovsky stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We can hardly expect the end of the era of poverty that we were promised this year. Unfortunately, the era of poverty for the majority of Ukrainians will continue.
This is even evident from the social standards that are laid down and approved in the state budget for this year. The government itself admits, the same Mr. Goncharuk, that all social standards included in the budget are half the indicators that Ukrainian families really need.
State aid and social standards, which should be and which are calculated by the Ministry of Social Policy itself, are halved, and so are now approved in the state budget,” he noted.
Moreover, according to Andrei Pavlovsky, the current Ukrainian government is pursuing the same anti-social policy as the previous one, only many times faster.
“This is the kind of social policy, or rather, it would be correct to call it antisocial; there is nothing new here. The government of Goncharuk, in fact, continues to do everything - the same thing that the governments of Groysman, Poroshenko and Yatsenyuk began to do. Nothing new.
And it is no coincidence that Goncharuk said: “Everything that the Poroshenko government did, it did correctly, only slowly, we will be faster.”
We see that this is accelerating - both on land and due to the desire to sell off the remains of the most valuable state assets, state property,” the expert concluded.
