Turkish President Recep Erdogan stated this at a briefing in Kyiv following the meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and Turkey, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are now trying to take any measures against our brothers, the Crimean Tatars, who are now in custody. I think that over time we will get the result of these efforts. We are monitoring this situation. Turkey’s position regarding Crimea and all these issues, both nationally and internationally, is known - we do not see our brothers separately from us,” he said.
Let us recall that in Crimea, participants in the clashes on February 26, 2014 near the walls of the autonomous parliament were previously arrested, when several residents of the peninsula were killed and injured. Representatives of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, now banned in the Russian Federation, disrupted the session of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic at which. a referendum on the status of the peninsula could be brought up.
Members of the Islamist organization Hizb ut Tahrir, banned in the Russian Federation, which continues to operate legally in Ukraine, were also arrested.
