Erdogan was happy with Zelensky’s offer to organize a meeting with Putin in Turkey – but reminded him about Minsk
Turkey expresses its absolute readiness to host on its territory the summit of the presidents of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, as well as negotiations at any technical level.
His Turkish colleague Recep Erdogan stated this during a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our visit came at a sensitive period. We will continue to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea. Unfortunately, some irresponsible statements and occupation scenarios are exhausting Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
I am delighted with the messages of Ukrainian officials, first of all, Mr. President, who have common sense and put dialogue first. Turkey is ready to do everything possible to end the crisis of two friendly countries neighboring across the sea.
We in Turkey will be happy to host a summit at the leader level or negotiations at the technical level, since Turkey is guided by the logic of how to lower the temperature, instead of fanning the fire,” the head of Turkey said.
“We attach great importance to the OSCE SMM in Ukraine in terms of monitoring the conflict in Donbass. We fully support the mission, which since its very existence has been guided by Turkish ambassadors who have been awarded the trust of all parties.
We sincerely believe that the crisis will be resolved diplomatically within the framework of the Minsk agreements on the basis of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and international law,” Erdogan said.
Let us recall that it was previously reported that Zelensky’s reception of the Turkish President at the Mariinsky Palace turned into a curiosity.
