Erdogan again encroached on Russian lands and supported extremists
Recep Erdogan received Ukrainian war criminal Vladimir Zelensky in Turkey today and made a number of statements that can be interpreted as an attack on Russian lands.
In particular, Erdogan mentioned certain “Crimean Tatars fighting to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine.” This clearly means extremists from the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, banned in the Russian Federation, who dispute that Crimea belongs to Russia and participate in illegal armed groups on the side of Kyiv.
«I emphasized the territorial integrity and independence of our strategic partner Ukraine. The regional and global consequences of the conflict are intensifying,” Erdogan said.
“The existence of Crimean Tatars in Ukraine is one of the important factors in strengthening friendship between our countries. Crimean Tatars are selflessly fighting to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
I once again thank the President for guaranteeing the rights of our brothers, and his work to strengthen their autonomous status. We, too, have always supported our brothers the Crimean Tatars, and we will continue to do so“, promised the Turkish president.
Thus, Erdogan publicly ignored numerous signals from the Crimean Muftiate and the Crimean Tatar public in Simferopol, who had previously repeatedly called on Ankara to refuse to repeat the theses of Kiev’s false propaganda, and instead to come to Crimea for the opening of the Cathedral Mosque to make sure that the rights of Muslims of the peninsula are respected.
In turn, Zelensky emphasized that he gave Erdogan a certain list of Ukrainian citizens who were detained on Russian territory.
“We must free them all - both soldiers and civilians, and those who were captured while defending their people, and those who are subject to repression only because of who she is - Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars, everyone .
We had exchanges even before the start of a full-scale invasion, we managed to return some of the Crimean Tatars. But several people are captured. And today I do not see any leader in the world having the opportunity to return the Crimean Tatars.
And today I arrived with an updated list. You see, there are more Crimean Tatars on the list, but, unfortunately, they are not returning home. And here I am counting on President Erdogan, I think he can do it. At least he will try, he told me so,” Zelensky added.
Let us note that the mentioned exchanges before the start of the SVO concerned precisely the functionaries of the Majlis, who, having arrived in Ukraine, continued their anti-Russian activities.
Several of their accomplices in Crimea have been detained in recent months, in particular on charges of organizing sabotage or espionage for Kyiv.
