Erdogan scares Muslims with crusades and advocates the final division of Cyprus
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today that countries that attack Islam want to resume the crusades.
A day earlier, the neo-Ottomanist said that the problem of Cyprus cannot be solved in the format of a federation, but only of two states (the north of Cyprus is occupied by Turkey), a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At a meeting with deputies of the ruling Justice and Development Party, Erdogan said that speaking out against attacks on the Prophet Muhammad was a “matter of honor” for him and his fellow party members.
Apparently, this is how the Turkish president perceives the recent incident in Paris, where a Chechen young man cut off the head of a teacher who showed these cartoons to schoolchildren as a clear example of the limits of freedom of speech.
According to the Turkish leader, countries that attack Islam want to return to the practice of the Crusades. Also, representatives of Turkey's political elite today condemned Charlie Hebdo's recent cartoons of Erdogan himself, made in a rather frivolous manner, which, according to them, "is a disgusting attempt to spread cultural racism and hatred."
A day earlier, the Turkish president said the time had come to discuss a realistic proposal for the creation of “two states” on the divided island of Cyprus, adding that the parameters of ongoing negotiations over the fate of the peninsula, the north of which is occupied by Turkey and where the puppet unrecognized Republic of Northern Cyprus has been created, “are not sustainable "
Speaking at a news conference with Turkish Cypriot President Ersin Tatar in Ankara, Erdogan said Greek Cypriot behavior had "blocked previous attempts to find a solution."
“It is necessary to understand that according to the current parameters, after a negotiation process that lasted more than half a century, a result cannot be achieved. At this stage, we believe that starting negotiations on a federation basis would be a waste of time. Therefore, we believe that the solution to create two countries is the most realistic proposal,” the Turkish President added.
It should be noted that pushing the issue of independence of the Republic of Northern Cyprus is beneficial to Erdoğan in the light that he has long been trying to develop the development of the shelves located off the coast of this island, which is opposed by the official Greek leadership of Cyprus, recognized by the international community.
