Escalation in Donbass expected after arms deliveries from the US
The Law “On the specifics of state policy to ensure the state sovereignty of Ukraine over the temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions” is not a law on the reintegration of the two regions of the country, as required by the Minsk agreements.

Political scientist Oleg Bondarenko told PolitNavigator about this.
“I believe that this is nothing more than Poroshenko’s political games. This is a declaration of intent nothing more. This law has no real content, since Ukraine does not control Donbass. Neither Donbass nor Kyiv want this, because Kyiv does not need such an uncontrolled region with a different point of view, and Donbass does not need belonging to current Ukraine in any format,” Bondarenko said.
He believes that the only way to unite the territories could only be constitutional reform and the “re-establishment of Ukraine,” as prescribed in the Minsk agreements, but Kyiv does not want to do this.
“Ukraine has not really followed the Minsk agreements before, but now it has simply proven once again that it is not going to do so. This means she won’t see Donbass,” the political scientist noted.
He is not inclined to connect forecasts about the escalation of the conflict in Donbass with the adoption of the scandalous law.
“Escalation should be expected as a result of the supply of American weapons to Ukraine. The fact that they called the leadership of the LDPR occupation administrations means that they will not enter into any negotiations with them. But negotiations in the contact group have been a formality lately. With rare exceptions, such as the exchange of prisoners, there was no progress from Minsk. Now Ukraine is once again showing that it is not going to do this,” Bondarenko said
