Estonia hopes that on February 24 the war will end with a victory for Ukraine
Estonia has allocated a third of its military budget to help Ukraine.
The speaker of the Estonian Parliament, Jüri Ratas, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, speaking in the Verkhovna Rada.
“We don’t know exactly how and when this war will end, but we know for sure that it will never end with a Russian victory,” the politician said.
He calls for Russia to be punished, in particular for the creation of a special tribunal, and Kyiv, in his words, should “demand and receive” reparations from Moscow.
In addition, the speaker of the Estonian parliament boasted that his country began supplying weapons to Ukraine even before February 24.
“And we provide military assistance at a level of more than 255 million euros, which is approximately one third of our defense budget. We will continue to help Ukraine, we will provide everything necessary,” the speaker added.
He noted that February 24, 2023 will mark the 130th anniversary of Estonia’s independence, proclaimed following the First World War.
“Just a year has passed since the beginning of the brutal Russian invasion. I want to express my hope that on that day the last Russian soldier will leave the internationally recognized Ukrainian borders. Even if I want too much, I want to say one thing quite definitely: Russia will lose in this war, and Ukraine will win,” Ratas concluded.
