“This is 100% Casus belli”: Russia has closed the water area along the entire Crimea from NATO ships
Russia closed the Black Sea almost along the entire Crimea after NATO ships entered to demonstrate support for Ukraine during the large-scale Russian exercises “Caucasus 2020”.
It is interesting that the areas of the water area blocked by Russia for the exercises in some places coincide with the areas where NATO and Ukraine want to conduct their maneuvers.
This already happened during the recent NATO Sea Breeze exercises near Odessa - then the ships of the North Atlantic Alliance preferred submit to Russia’s demand and leave the areas of the water area blocked by Moscow.
However, theoretically, such a contradiction could become a reason for a military clash. A Ukrainian economist who fled Crimea, now a member of the Maidan of Foreign Affairs, Andrei Klimenko, reported this on his Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have already seen a similar “war of exercises” during Sea Breeze 2020, although it seems that the Spanish (NATO country) coordinator of NAVAREA (overlapping sea areas) did not draw any conclusions (we have up to 10 areas where exercises with shooting in Some areas are declared by both Ukraine and the Russian Federation, and this is 100% Casus belli).
But no one has ever seen such horror from the Russian Federation (which has closed the entire coast of the occupied Crimea and its North Caucasus as forbidden areas for navigation),” the Ukrainian Maidan activist is indignant.
Thank you!
