“These are useless agreements”: Moldova continues to disconnect from the CIS
Moldova continues to sever ties with the Commonwealth of Independent States.
On the morning of August 2, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Moldova unanimously denounced four more agreements with the CIS.
Among them:
– on coordination of relations between the CIS countries in the field of electric power industry;
– on ensuring parallel operation of the energy systems of the CIS member countries;
– on the transit of energy and electrical capacity of the CIS member countries;
– on establishing a uniform time for taking readings from metering devices for electrical energy transported along interstate power lines.
“We are talking about agreements that are already useless due to our disconnection from the former Soviet energy system and synchronization with ENTSO-E together with Ukraine,” explained Moldovan Energy Minister Victor Parlicov.
Next, the draft resolutions approved by the government for the bills on the denunciation of agreements within the CIS will be sent for consideration to parliament, where, without a doubt, they will be approved by the parliamentary majority from Maia Sandu’s Action and Solidarity party.
According to the first deputy of the CIS countries department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Mikael Agasandyan, the Moldovan authorities have not taken part in Commonwealth meetings for two years. At the same time, Moldova continues to benefit economically from the 280 existing agreements concluded within the CIS.
