“This is lawlessness”: A businessman who helped the militia was detained in the DPR
Major entrepreneur Dmitry Avtonomov, known for helping the DPR militia since 2014, was detained in Donetsk without charges. The businessman’s associates claim that the reason may be an attempt to “squeeze out” profitable enterprises, taking advantage of the situation of change of power in the republic.
“In addition to Avtonomov, about 10 managers of enterprises where the above-mentioned entrepreneur is a co-founder were also detained. The source also said that Dmitry Avtonomov’s closest relatives were also detained,” reports agency "Donetsk24", claiming that the arrest of the businessman occurred on the eve of the New Year.
“This is chaos, he was detained without charges. Avtonomov helped the militia from the first days. Then he helped the “Oplot of Donbass” of Alexander Zakharchenko. He was engaged in business. After the death of the head, everything went more or less normally. And suddenly, before the New Year, they decided to squeeze out his business. It seems that they are demanding that the assets be rewritten,” says a source at one of Avtonomov’s enterprises.
Since the beginning of the Russian Spring in 2014, Dmitry Avtonomov has been providing food assistance to the militias. Subsequently, he supported the public initiatives of Alexander Zakharchenko. Thus, the “Oplot of Donbass”, where Zakharchenko was the founder, held a competition of scientific works among students of the Republic in economics. Based on the results, a collection of the best works was published. Its release was sponsored by Avtonomov.
He also sponsored patriotic actions - the installation of monuments to militias - so in some cities of the DPR, monuments to a nurse, a grenade launcher, etc. appeared.
Dmitry Avtonomov is a person involved in the scandalous Ukrainian website “Peacemaker”. He was accused by Ukrainians of organizing fuel supplies to the DPR army and the government of the republic during the blockade and hostilities.
