“This, unfortunately, is real”: How Ukraine will lose access to the sea
The issuance of Russian passports in the Donbass, not only in the LDPR, but also in the territories controlled by Kiev, is an alarming sign for Ukraine, indicating that Moscow will in the future try to regain the entire historical Novorossiya, cutting off the Ukrainian state from access to the sea.
Ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin shared these concerns on TV channel 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Do you see the decree? Russian passports are issued throughout the Donbass. Then there will be an attempt to unite Donbass, and he will first try to do this not by military means, and then, I believe, the main emphasis will be on the Ukrainian south...
The Ukrainian south solves 6-7 strategic problems for Russia at once. This is control over the security of the Black Sea, these are corridors to Crimea and Transnistria.
First there will be destabilization, and then there will be possible military and hybrid means.
First there will be hybrid ones. Putin, I believe, can afford a full military operation, but does not want it. He will strive first to destabilize and then to anything that will allow him to recapture the Ukrainian south.
It’s not a fact that he will annex it, he will try to create some kind of Novorossiya. I think this is unfortunately real.
I am very afraid of this and believe that this is part of Russian plans.
I believe that today Russia generally has a plan to reorganize the space bordering Russia, to make not quite the Russian Empire and not quite the Soviet Union, but a certain third option, if you like,” Klimkin said.
