This is some kind of shame: Ukraine’s lawsuit against Russia in the UN court turned out to be the height of mediocrity
Lawsuit of Ukraine against Russia, which began to be considered today in the UN court, turned out to be the height of legal mediocrity and does not pose any threats to Moscow. Moreover, Kyiv’s claims are written in such a way that they do not refer to the “Russian war against Ukraine” constantly mentioned by Petro Poroshenko. Also, Kyiv makes no claims to Crimea.
Former Minister of Justice of Ukraine Elena Lukash, who studied the documents, writes about this in her blog. As evidence, she cites references to text of the claim и speech voiced by the Ukrainian side in court.

“I got acquainted with the position of Ukraine in the UN International Court in The Hague. And I advise you. So, if we discard all the epistolary balancing act:
- There is no war.
– There is no armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
– There are no “Buryats” or other armed formations from Russia.
– No one has attacked or is attacking Ukraine.
- Crimea is occupied, precisely occupied, and is not the subject of the claim. There you just need to oblige the Russian Federation to stop violating the rights of the Tatars. Think about it)
There is a claim against the Russian Federation regarding the supply of weapons and support for illegal armed groups and the financing of terrorism, violation of human rights.
The Ukrainian lawsuit itself is surprising in its naivety and simplicity:
We ask the court to oblige the Russian Federation:
- stop;
-investigate;
– prohibit;
– abstain;
– pay the costs associated with explosions and shots;
- control your boundaries...
– and the icing on the cake: “(j) immediately take all necessary and appropriate measures to ensure the free functioning of Russian speakers!!! Media in Russian-occupied Crimea" :-)?
I have a number of questions in this regard:
- Why did you go to court? What, besides arguments for extending sanctions against the Russian Federation, can the verdict provide?
– how much does servicing this “process” cost taxpayers?
– And it was used in the lawsuit UN OHCHR information about the involvement of the Ukrainian authorities in gross and systemic violations of international law, human rights and international humanitarian law? No?
Is everything okay with the evidence?
– “independent” media already know what and what to call it now? Or, after all, “Buryats”?” – Lukash sums up sarcastically.
Thank you!
