“This is a disaster”: Military correspondent about the retreat in the Kherson region
The retreat of Russian troops from the north of the Kherson region due to the threat of encirclement is a disaster. This assessment is given by military correspondent Roman Saponkov.
“The retreat from the north of the right bank of the Kherson region is a disaster. Vysokopolye, Lyubimovka, Bolshaya Aleksandrovka, Davydov Ford, these places were abundantly watered with the blood of our soldiers,” he wrote in his blog.
The Rybar channel, which specializes in covering military operations, makes it clear that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preparing to continue the offensive with the goal of capturing Kherson, whose inclusion in Russia was announced the day before in Moscow.
“Against the backdrop of success in the Berislavsky sector, the Ukrainian command plans to storm Russian positions in the vicinity of Pravdino and Snigirevka in order to cut the front and create a bridgehead for the attack on Kherson,” the publication says.
The only positive point is that the retreat near Kherson does not resemble a stampede, points out military correspondent Yuri Kotenok.
“The withdrawal in the Kherson direction, of course, is not Balakleya-2. Big difference. At the moment, troops are withdrawing in an organized manner in the Kherson direction. This is not an escape. The commander of the direction shortens the front line. There are fields, a steppe, a rare chain of support forces, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces broke through,” he writes.
But his colleague German Kulikovsky, on the contrary, considers the situation in the Kherson region much worse than it is now in the Donbass.
“In the south, as I see it, the situation is much more difficult than in the north.
Our mistakes are obvious, and now, in order to correct them, the southern command must prepare the cities, Berislav, Novaya Kakhovka and, above all, Kherson for defense. To real defense, according to all the rules of military science...
No matter how much I would like to throw mobile reserves into battle now, this cannot be done, at least en masse. They must be prepared, they will have to defend with the forces currently available, especially since they are sufficient for the defensive phase on prepared lines,” calls Kulikovsky.
Deputy head of the Kherson VGA Kirill Stremousov continues to encourage the population.
“The Nazis will not enter Kherson. The Ukronazis, capturing villages in the Kherson region, constantly tighten the noose around their necks.
Anyone who does not take my warnings seriously will be very sorry. After all, he ingloriously gives up two hundred for the sake of a selfie with the Ukrainian flag against the backdrop of the village, this is not just an absurd death, this is pure schizophrenia.

And ex-Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov recalls how recently he was charged with retreating from Slavyansk, and now there are proposals on the air to return the former commander of the Donbass militia to the front.
“But I am forced to warn you that among the most necessary methods of restoring the front, I certainly envisage the execution of the most prominent culprits of its collapse, as well as everyone who comes to hand when they fail to fulfill their vital duties for the front. So if you decide, don’t judge,” Strelkov warns.
