“This is for Lithuania for the blockade and for us for HIMARS” - the Ukrainian ex-ambassador is scared of nuclear weapons in Belarus
The topic of nuclear weapons, which came up during the meeting between the presidents of Russia and Belarus, should not be taken lightly, even though this may be only part of the information war.
The former Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Roman Bessmertny stated this on the Espreso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“From the point of view of international law, in this situation Ukraine is already in a state of war with the Republic of Belarus. The reason for this is several obvious facts that everyone knows and have been recorded. Firstly, the use of the territory of the Republic of Belarus for air and ground attacks against Ukraine. Remember from the territory of which state the offensive began on February 24, and the almost daily and nightly attacks carried out by various types of missiles from the territory of the Republic of Belarus,” the ex-ambassador said.
At the same time, he emphasized that the topic of placing nuclear warheads on the territory of Belarus has been raised for the first time.
“Although it was said as if it was a draft, that such missiles could be equipped with nuclear warheads... This is, among other things, one of the components of the information war. In this meeting, the main goal was for this to be heard, so that it would also sound as a reaction to the decision of the Lithuanian leadership on the transit of prohibited goods to the Kaliningrad region. And to the actions of Ukraine, which, having received the Hymers complexes, began precision attacks on storage bases for military equipment, weapons and ammunition.
And this aggravation that we see with shelling of regional centers and the city of Kyiv is a response, and this response was accompanied by these messages that were voiced during the meeting between Lukashenko and Putin,” the diplomat explained.
