Russian publicist Yegor Kholmogorov stated this in a commentary to the Russian TV channel “Anna news”.
“The war in Donbass is a national liberation war of the Russian people. In the first place is, first of all, the national aspect, because Ukraine, during the 23 years of its “independent” existence, pursued a policy of cultural genocide of Russians, in fact, a change in consciousness, a change in the identity of people. Moreover, this was done using rude, violent methods,” the publicist notes.
“It’s good that this uprising broke out. So the Russians would peacefully, quietly cease to exist, as happened with those Russians who were subjected to Ukrainization, Polonization in the west of Ukraine. Although 100 years ago it was the cradle of the Russophile movement,” he also noted.
According to Kholmogorov, Donbass cannot be allowed to follow the path of Galicia.
Regarding the consciousness of Ukrainians, who now mainly support the actions of the Kyiv authorities, Kholmogorov believes that the people will come to their senses only after the complete defeat of Ukraine.
“They can return the remnants of their reason; they can go through the path that the Germans took in 1945. When they were confronted with the crimes they committed. When they raised the question of what they had done and what it was all for,” the publicist concluded.
