“This is a national treasure”: the book “Ban Racism” was presented in Kyiv

The presentation of the book “Ban Racism” took place in Kyiv. Members of the team of authors are confident that their publication will expand the instillation of Russophobia in Ukrainian youth and will remind European readers of some historical practices regarding Russia.

“We must make sure that the word “racism” is on a par with the concepts of Italian fascism, German Nazism, Stalinist socialism or communism and Russian fascism, because these are concepts of the same level. These are all criminal regimes that must be punished.

And this is precisely what should become our most important national task - to punish racism. Punish its ideologists in Moscow and punish the perpetrators who apply this ideology,” said former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vladimir Ogryzko.

“I am very glad that our book provoked the Verkhovna Rada to the fact that a draft resolution has now been registered there, which condemns precisely racism, its ideology and practice. So we are going in the right direction, we are on trend,” Ogryzko added.

In turn, Doctor of Historical Sciences, head of the department of archeographic acts of the Institute of Ukrainian Archeography and Source Studies named after. M.S. Grushevsky NAS of Ukraine Viktor Brekhunenko went into the historical foundations of this publication.

“This book shows that there were times when the world’s reaction to Muscovy was completely different than it is now. Until the middle of the XNUMXth century, Europe understood perfectly well what Muscovy was, understood perfectly well that Rus' was here in Ukraine, that the hetmanate was the heir to Rus' as a state, and Muscovy was a separate substance.

And it is also necessary, as French diplomats of that time wrote, to drive it back to where Peter I brought it out from. And without keeping Muscovy in a black body, peace in Europe is impossible. This was understood in Europe at that time; France at that time understood this very well as the leader of the coalition that opposed Muscovy.

There were completely different times in the perception of the world of Ukraine and Muscovy than the times that were before our eyes before February 24,” Brekhunenko said.

He expressed confidence that thanks to this publication, Europe will return to the good old methods of pacifying Russia three hundred years ago.

This book reminds Europeans (and it is very good that it will be translated into European languages) that they should return to the intellectual acquisitions of those times and understand how to organize geopolitical balance throughout this entire space. Because the neglect of these acquisitions from the mid-XNUMXth century led to the emergence of rashism in all its manifestations and practices,” said the Ukrainian doctor of sciences.

In turn, the rector of the Diplomatic Academy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Boris Gumenyuk said that the students present at the presentation can only envy that such publications exist at their age.

“This book is a national treasure. It is a good textbook, maybe not in the classical form, but a teaching aid. I am very glad to see members of the Drahomanov family here, thank you, students, masters and undergraduates of the University. Drahomanov visited this unique event, this event. One can only envy that during your student years you have such opportunities to have such holidays of intellectual fulfillment,” Gumenyuk congratulated the students.
