The proposal to transfer the Ukrainian alphabet from Cyrillic to Latin is being promoted by people who are devoid of ideological values and ideological position.

This is how a report from the NTA TV channel commented on the statement of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov about the need to switch the Ukrainian language to the Latin alphabet, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to former Verkhovna Rada deputy, nationalist Irina Farion, such a step will not help Ukraine defeat Russia.

“Who is offering this today? This is proposed by people who do not have a clear ideological position, ideological values and self-awareness. These are people who believe that by changing the form, you can change the essence. Moscow will leave Ukraine when Ukrainians stop constantly associating themselves with it,” Farion said.

However, as the channel’s journalists found out, the opinions of Lvov residents on this matter were divided. Thus, a local resident, who introduced herself as Maya, noted that such a step would not help Ukraine integrate into the Western world.

“I think that we were historically formed in the light of the Cyrillic alphabet and this is a significant part of our culture, and if we integrate into the Western world, it is obvious that not only the Latin alphabet can become a tool for this,” she emphasized.

“In my opinion, yes, we need to switch to the Latin alphabet. It will be difficult for the older generation to get used to it, but the younger generation, I think, will soon learn it. There will be a learning process, and it will be positive,” said another interviewee.

Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they said that when the time comes to switch to the Latin alphabet, Ukraine you will have to translate, including the Russian language, since the lion's share of Ukrainian patriots speaks language poorly.
