“This is not propaganda”: “Lying” factories are being raised in Russia
There are problems with the economy in Russia, but “the economy is even better than it was a year ago.”
Political scientist Alexey Chadayev spoke about this at the Bunker on Lubyanka club, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unexpectedly, yes. This is not just propaganda. Several unexpected circumstances emerged. One of them is that the economic model of integration into the global world that we had was extremely unprofitable for us as a country. And when those ties were severed, we benefited more from the rupture than they did—in several significant ways.
I drive around and see factories that were already lying on their sides, but now work in three shifts. And these are not only the military, but also all those who are now importing substitutes for various fallen civilian products,” Chadayev said.
According to him, some manufacturers, after rebuilding production chains from the West to the East, were able to make their products even cheaper.
“When I see a sharp intensification of our ties with various non-Western countries, it gets ridiculous. A friend of mine managed a production facility that makes solar panels for our satellites. They purchased plates from Germany. Deliveries ended right on February 24th.
They fussed, ran to look, and after a month and a half they found out that these supposedly German plates were produced in China, and the Germans simply stuck their nameplate on them and resold them to us at exorbitant prices. And how much of this was revealed when they began to reassemble the chains,” Chadayev said.
