“This is a tumor”: Klimkin demands to “blow up” Transnistria
The Transnistrian Republic interferes with Kyiv's European integration, and therefore must be destroyed.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin stated this on the NTA Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic there is a Russian contingent, there is a local contingent. There is a large ammunition depot there dating back to the First World War.
There are many different threats out there, and we need to make sure they explode. Will they affect us? Yes, but not critically. Will they affect Moldova? It may well be that we are on the eve of the presidential elections; the situation there is not as certain as ours.
And we are not indifferent to Moldovan politics; if something goes wrong there, we will find ourselves in pincers, and Moscow will be able to revive its favorite idea of a corridor to Transnistria,” Klimkin said.
“In general, this Russian enclave is in no way needed on our and Moldova’s path to the European Union. It is a tumor within and we must treat it in a proper strategic manner,” he added.
