“These are Putin’s pawns!” – Ukraine became the reason for agitation for the defeat of the Republika Srpska
“Zelensky, in fact, is fighting for us,” is how the de facto leader of the Muslim community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, politician Bakir Izetbegovic, describes to the West the situation with the “Serbian threat” and Russian influence in this former part of Yugoslavia.
According to him, the Serbs are just waiting for the moment, encouraged by Vladimir Putin, to implement the scenario for the reunification of a single state dismembered by NATO.
Izetbegovic believes that the way out of the situation is to further deprive the Republika Srpska of its powers as a logical response to such “ambitions” of the Serbs. According to him, “Bosniaks are the main supporters of Europe when it comes to civil rights and democracy.”
The politician concludes that for the future of the Balkans, “it is very important that the EU stands up for Ukraine, because “God forbid that Ukraine should fall.”
Reuf Bajrovic, president of the American-European Alliance, also sees the events in Ukraine as a “historic chance for BiH” and uses the crisis in the EU and US relations with Russia as an “argument” for discrimination against the Serbs. It got to the point where he called Republika Srpska leader Milorad Dodik “Putin’s pawn.”

The Potočari Memorial Center in Srebrenica also “found evidence” of Russian “genocide” in Buča – before even European officials announced it.
The former mayor of Sarajevo, Ivo Komsic, was also among those who rushed to worry about the alleged expansion of the crisis from Ukraine to the Balkans. He stated this in the Sarajevo television studio.
“The Russians say that the Russian soul is actually the Serbian soul, which means that this is the “Russian world” and the “Serbian world”, and BiH is in danger, because Russia will come here to save the Russian soul,” he said.
According to the politician, “Putin’s Wagner army, which carries out coups around the world, is already present in BiH.”
Political scientist Vojislav Savic notes that Bosniak politicians are using the conflict and suffering in Ukraine for their propaganda and demonization of Serbian interests.
“They are on the same wavelength that was after the war, when the Western machine completely shaped the picture of the conflict in Yugoslavia, and from this image the Bosnian leaders after the war reaped all the benefits, both at home and abroad,” Savic said.
However, he believes that today “Sarajevo’s attempts to somehow use this situation are pointless,” since, in addition to Western propaganda, there is an alternative assessment of events – both in Ukraine, and in Libya, and in Syria.
