This is the problem of the FSB - the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is making funny excuses after another scandal
In Ukraine, the scandal surrounding the possible appointment of a Russian representative, Major General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Alexander Prokopchuk, to the post of head of Interpol continues to develop and acquire new details.
As the Kyiv media found out, the brother of the Russian candidate, Igor Prokopchuk, has been holding the position of Ukraine’s permanent representative to the OSCE for more than eight years.
This information was later confirmed by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which stated that the family ties of the permanent representative do not harm the national interests of Ukraine.
“This war has scattered friends, loved ones, and relatives on both sides of the front line. For many, this became a real personal tragedy. But everyone makes their own choice and is responsible for it,” says a statement from the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, quoted by UP.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Sergei Kislitsa also spoke out in defense of the Ukrainian Prokopchuk.
“Everything he has done and will do as an ambassador, as a professional, is needed by Ukraine on the international stage. The situation with the fact that such a Ukrainian diplomat as Ambassador Igor Prokopchuk is a relative of Alexander Prokopchuk, a Russian policeman, whom Russia has now nominated for the post of head of the collegial body - the executive committee of Interpol, in fact, should worry the Russian FSB more, because having such a relative as Igor Prokopchuk is compromising evidence, if you like,” Kislitsa wrote on his blog.
Earlier in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine threatened with a “harsh reaction” in case a Russian representative heads Interpol.
