“This is just a nightmare” - Ukrainian political scientist assessed Zelensky’s interview with Americans
The interview that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky recently gave to HBO has been causing heated discussions within the country for several days.
Thus, political scientist Yuri Romanenko in his blog criticized the president for his lack of professionalism in responding to American journalists, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In particular, Zelensky got it for sending a message to US President Joe Biden demanding to set a time frame for Ukraine’s entry into NATO.
“When a little boy comes up to his uncle and says: “Uncle, why don’t I have a plastic horse?” or: “Why don’t I have a car?” Well, it looks something like this: “Uncle, why are we still not in NATO?” Well, because we're idiots. Why aren't we in NATO? Because you can’t walk around the world with an outstretched hand for 30 years and not do them, and expect that by some miracle you will be accepted into NATO,” Romanenko said.
He also criticized Zelensky for saying that shares of the Ukrainian company Motor Sich cannot be sold to a Chinese company.
“We are abandoning not just the Chinese, but the Chinese who are backed by the state, that’s the essence of the situation. When they say that this is some kind of private company - no, it took loans in order to buy Motor Sich, and the Chinese state is behind these loans, because we understand perfectly well that for the Chinese this is a matter of strategic importance, obtaining enough aircraft engines to build the several thousand helicopters they need.
In order, among other things, to be in priority relations with all strategically important players. That’s why Vova, when he’s talking all this nonsense, looks like, I’m even afraid to say these words, what he looks like. This is just a nightmare,” summed up the Ukrainian political scientist.
