“This is the worst thing,” a Mejlis member confessed in Kyiv
Residents of Ukraine are beginning to come to terms with the loss of Crimea and lose interest in the peninsula. A member of the Majlis banned in the Russian Federation, Eskender Bariev, stated this at a round table in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, citizens living on the Ukrainian mainland are slowly beginning to adapt to the situation with Crimea. This is the worst thing. And we must constantly remind them of it,” he said.
Bariev also noted that the topic of Crimea began to disappear from the election programs of presidential candidates in Ukraine.
“Today an important process is taking place - the election of the President of Ukraine. Of the 44 candidates for president of Ukraine, 14 say nothing about Crimea in their programs. 20 out of 44 simply said “Crimea is part of Ukraine” or “Crimea must be liberated.” All. What and how they will do, how to de-occupy Crimea - nothing has been said.
10 presidential candidates, at least apparently, declaratively have some points on how they will de-occupy Crimea. But still, very little has been said about the protection of human rights in Crimea. And nothing has been said, or very little has been said, about what they will do in terms of implementing the rights of the Crimean Tatar people. This is a mirror of our Ukrainian society,” the Mejlis member laments.
