“This is a completely different configuration”: a Ukrainian Armed Forces colonel is frightened by the Union State exercises
The Russian-Belarusian exercise “Allied Resolve 2022” with the involvement of a nuclear component poses an unprecedented threat to both NATO and Ukraine.
Ukrainian military expert, former Colonel of the Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleg Zhdanov stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Please note that the main focus of the exercise is on the western and southern border of Belarus. That is, they will try to scare NATO. Well, we, who have already joined NATO, as NATO partners, should also be afraid of these exercises. What could be unusual - when these exercises were announced in December by the Russian President, it was said that during these exercises they would try to use the Russian nuclear triad. These are ground, air and sea forces capable of carrying and using nuclear weapons,” said the Ukrainian expert.
“Please note, the female press officer said that the exercises are being conducted within the framework of the security of the Union State, this is the key word. And this is said by an officer of the Belarusian army. That is, Russia and Belarus are considering the already united armed forces in the context of the Union State, a single military structure. This is very important - we now have a completely different configuration along our borders,” Zhdanov concluded.
