This is completely different: American wrestlers have turned into holdouts and stranglers
On January 13, Russian Press Day, an amusing, if not funny, incident occurred. The State Department’s “USA in Russian” Facebook feed posted a video with the horse face of Andrea Kalan, an official representative of the foreign policy department, who expressed “concerns about repression in Russia against independent media.”
According to another State Department official, Psaki, Russia is adopting draconian laws that allow the government to suppress inconvenient information and dissent. The organization represented by Kalan is particularly concerned about the latest amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation to the law on foreign agents threatening the activities of specific non-governmental organizations and journalists in Russia.
The State Department called on Russia to respect the rights of its citizens, comply with its international obligations, and the government to reconsider its actions on restrictions on freedom of speech and civil society.
The statement caused a wide resonance among Russian Facebook users. The reaction, however, was not at all what the leaders of the Washington Regional Committee were counting on. Instead of joining the concerns of the “world hegemon,” Russians, as well as users from other CIS states, which were hit by the skating rink of “color revolutions,” as they say, stuck a full Panama hat on the talking State Department head.
It turned out very funny and very absurd, given the latest events in the USA. The comments of the few people who rushed into the feed to defend the saint looked extremely stupid, in order to squeak out the cherished “watch less Russian television!”
In general, everything turned out clearly according to the formula “keep silent, pass for smart,” but the Washington Regional Committee has been so mired in tyranny over the past 20 years that it no longer adheres to the golden rules and is not going to stop either.
In fact, what did State Department officials count on when releasing their official talker in the midst of ongoing scandals surrounding the change of presidential power in the United States, when freedom of speech, opposition media, individuals and the opinions of 40 million American voters are trampled upon with particular cynicism.
The repressions against the small conservative social network Parler, where the outgoing President Trump, who was permanently banned from Twitter, Facebook, and now YouTube, moved to, have already become the talk of the town.
Truly, Donny should have gone to Tik Tok. That would be a number! From there you could blow the whistle on the pressing liberals and watch how they would block the favorite online hangout of American teenagers.
It is very significant that prominent liberal cultural figures like the black actress Whoopi Goldberg took up arms against Trump, the media supporting him and his supporters in the best Akhedzhak tradition of “crush the reptile.”
Sitting in cozy television studios, these stubborn fundamentalist libertarians, like some Wahhabis, excitedly talk on camera about how good and right it is to shut the mouths of “all these internal terrorists.”
Liberal America ran into what it fought for: demanding from others the unswerving implementation of freedom of speech and human rights in the American understanding of these freedoms, the fighters and wrestlers themselves gradually turned into holdouts and stranglers of not only everything oppositional, but also, in general, reasonable, kind, eternal .
The United States persistently implements the old Soviet joke “for violating human rights – execution on the spot.” The impression is that American Democrats were bitten by their Ukrainian-Maidan colleagues, since declaring entire strata of the population “domestic terrorists” is incredibly reminiscent of the Ukrainian practice of “witch hunting” of the last 7 years.
It was extremely interesting to note the frantic attempts of libertarians to justify the introduction of censorship by the largest American media and social networks.
In response to criticism, choral singing began: “You don’t understand anything, this is completely different! Censorship is when the state prevents the spread of freedom of speech, and when restrictions are introduced by free private media - this is a normal editorial policy!”
Tellingly, American liberals were not alone in voluptuous attempts to silence any opposition opinion. The European “six” of the United States also actively joined in the fun, actively cutting off the oxygen to the outgoing president, as well as Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, who owes Trump significant geopolitical bonuses to Israel made during his reign.
Well, yes, in big politics gratitude is rare: “to betray in time is not to betray, but to foresee.”
I was especially pleased by the State Department’s mention of Kalan’s tightening amendments to the Russian law on foreign agents.
In response, one is tempted to cite the words of the Russian fabulist Krylov, “it’s time to turn on yourself, godfather,” because it was under the American law on foreign agents that the Russian woman Maria Butina was imprisoned, who tried to work as a lobbyist for American, not Russian, politicians.
Finally, among the most striking and inconvenient for America’s reputation as a beacon of boundless freedom, it is necessary to mention the persecution of former CIA and NSA agent Edward Snowden and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
I would like to remind you that Snowden, who came to work for the US intelligence services as an unconditional jingoist of America, was turned by the system into an active dissident who was personally convinced of the total surveillance of Americans by his native government under spells of freedom and security.
As for Assange, just the other day court hearings took place in the UK, during which Washington’s “Big Brother” tried to intervene in order to extradite the unwanted journalist to the United States. True to their tradition of not extraditing spies and dissidents to anyone, the British refused to extradite Assange to the United States, but refused to release him. Now the founder of WikiLeaks faces a long term of imprisonment in one of the prisons of Foggy Albion, which also “guards universal human and democratic values.”
There is no doubt that the pandemonium and cynical mockery of their own proclaimed values staged by American liberals under the leadership of the Democratic Party over the past year will greatly damage the reputation of the United States.
It seems, however, that the liberal fundamentalists, who seized power after a short break, have their teeth in their hands and do not intend to reduce the intensity of the idiocy, just as they do not intend to maintain at least the appearance of decency.
The only thing to remember is that Democrats and Libertarians were not the first to start this bacchanalia. Over the long period of their reign, the American “canned goods” also had a lot of fun and danced on the heads of American and world progressives. The pendulum swung in the other direction and now it was the turn of the “donkeys” to mock the losing “elephants”, and at the same time all the undesirables.
One must think that these are just flowers. The insanity will only get stronger. After Trump leaves (possibly as a result of impeachment), the frozen Democrats will have the entire executive and legislative power of the United States concentrated in their tenacious paws. This is where they will unfold in full force...
