“This is humiliating” - General of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the return of boats
If Ukraine did not have any foreign policy victories throughout 2019, then there are plenty of examples of short-sighted and catastrophic steps.
The ex-commander of the ATO, a deputy from European Solidarity, Lieutenant General Mikhail Zabrodsky, said this on the air of the Direct TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The return of our ships was received positively by everyone, as a step forward, as recognition and so on, but, as they say, the devil is in the details. No one said that our boats and tug were returned - plundered. I didn’t expect anything else; if the Russian Federation becomes more powerful because of three ship toilets, then good.
This is not what the conversation is about: no one is saying that the ships were returned as material evidence and were returned not to the state, according to the verdict of the naval tribunal, but as for preservation, as material evidence in the case of border violations, and so on. Firstly, it’s humiliating, and secondly, it completely changes the attitude towards everything that happened,” Zabrodsky was indignant.
“Fortunately, not only the ships, but also the sailors returned, but we remember the story of the sailors who go for interrogations and explain why they violated the border of the Russian Federation on orders. In this regard, unfortunately, there are no victories, and unfortunately, throughout 2019 there are a lot of examples of how short-sighted steps and careless actions in the foreign policy arena can very quickly even lead to disaster,” the deputy added.
