“This is no longer reconnaissance in force”: the Ukrainian Armed Forces sent Leopards on the offensive

“The situation on Novodonetsk and to the left towards Velikonovoselovka is difficult - the enemy, having discovered our weak points, is increasing their efforts. For the first time we saw leopards in our tactical area. As I predicted yesterday, sensing the smell of success, the enemy will throw additional forces into battle. In the Novodonetsky area alone, up to thirty armored vehicles have been recorded,” Khodakovsky writes in his tg channel.
In turn, military observer Yuri Podolyaka believes that in this situation the strategic goal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is to cross the Shaitanka River and take a small bridge.
“This is no longer reconnaissance in force, but a serious offensive operation - it has really begun. It seems that the southern direction has become the main direction for the strike, as we said.
If everything goes according to the scenario in which they are now working (that is, not another diversionary maneuver), then the main goal for them is Mariupol. Today the enemy threw up to a battalion here with tank support. There is a fierce battle going on. The situation may still turn around before the evening,” Podolyaka said on Channel One.
According to him, the main forces of the parties have not yet entered into battle.
The TG channel of the Rybar project, headed by military analyst Mikhail Zvinchuk, provides a summary of military operations in the South Donetsk direction.
“On the border of the Zaporozhye region and the DPR in the area of the Vremevsky salient, the Ukrainian Armed Forces resumed the assault on Russian positions. Yesterday, by the end of the day, the Russian Armed Forces recaptured the lost territories, including Novodarovka. Ukrainian formations (according to some sources, forces of the 23rd and 31st infantry brigades are involved in the battles) are attacking in two directions: near Novodarovka and Rovnopol.
By noon, Russian units repulsed an attack by six tanks and infantry at Novodarovka. And from Novoselka the offensive continues - reserves have been deployed two kilometers west of Neskuchny. Also in the morning there was an attempt to storm the positions of the Russian Armed Forces near Neskuchny and Storozhevoy by marines of the new 37th Marine Brigade on several armored fighting vehicles. The attack was repulsed,” the publication notes.
At the same time, the main hostilities took place in the Novodonetsk area, where the enemy managed to advance.
“This morning, a column from the 30th armored fighting vehicle of the 37th infantry infantry regiment of the Ukrainian Navy, including Kirpi and MaxxPRO, attacked the positions of the Russian Armed Forces near the village. As a result, the enemy gained a foothold on the outskirts of the village. Now the fighting continues under heavy artillery fire. Soldiers of the 36th Army of the Russian Armed Forces are trying to drive out Ukrainian marines. Currently, about half of the village is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
At the same time, a convoy of 20 armored vehicles is now moving from the Bolshaya Novoselka area in a south-eastern direction, most likely to strengthen positions in Novodonetskoye,” the report says.
At the same time, Ukraine has not yet announced that the offensive has begun. According to Boris Rozhin, an expert at the Center for Military-Political Journalism, the Ukrainian leadership is insuring itself against potential failures.
“Since the enemy has not yet been able to capture significant populated areas during the attacks, he has already laid out a straw for himself in advance if he cannot take anything significant. In this case, after the failure of the offensive, it will be possible to say that we did not announce the offensive, and therefore did not capture anything. But if they can take something, then they will later declare that this is where the offensive took place.
The enemy simply does not want to make the same mistake as with the “counteroffensive near Artemovsk,” which lasted from May 10 to June 1 and did not lead to the occupation of at least one village. Here the Armed Forces of Ukraine found themselves hostage to their propaganda, which chattered incessantly for several weeks about the “counter-offensive near Bakhmut” and which later turned out to have nothing to show against the backdrop of defeat in the battles for the city,” writes Rozhin.
