“This is already a trend” – the Russian Foreign Ministry magazine continues to publish a map of Russia without Crimea
In the magazine “International Affairs”, which is published by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a map of Russia without Crimea has appeared again.
Crimean political scientist Anatoly Filatov writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The author of the article “The Main Directions of Russian Diplomacy in the Post-Soviet Space,” which was illustrated with a map where Crimea is part of Ukraine, was Olga Lebedeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Diplomacy at MGIMO Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Historical Sciences.
“Moreover, in this image, the Baltic republics - Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania - which, as any historian should know, were part of the USSR until 1991, were also excluded from the number of post-Soviet countries. In fact, what is revealed is not just complete indifference to provocative map schemes, but also a tendency towards their reproduction. With the deeply hidden silence of all bodies called upon to guard the statehood of the Russian Federation.
Then you get such a disgusting picture. I exclude the factor of profanity in the appearance of such publications because both the authors and the magazine, nevertheless, inspire hope for a certain amount of education. Then the explanations rest either in an excessive degree of tolerance of the authors of the publications and the editorial board, or in deliberate actions to discredit the very fact of the return of Crimea to the Russian Federation.
By the way, the exclusion of the Baltic republics from the post-Soviet context is not only a manifestation of submission to the guidelines dictated from Washington and relayed by their European accomplices, but also, again, discrediting the historical past (and future!) of our Fatherland,” writes Filatov.
The political scientist also notes that the journal’s Council includes Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Konstantin Kosachev and other high-ranking officials.
