This is not Banderstat: the DPR declared the year of the Great Victory
2020 has been declared the “Year of the Great Victory” in the DPR in honor of the 75th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany, in which the residents of Donbass took a heroic part.
The head of the republic, Denis Pushilin, announced this at a ceremonial meeting in Donetsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Present in the hall were veterans of the Great Patriotic War, today's defenders of Donbass, residents and guests of the capital of the DPR.
“We grew up with the truth about the Great Patriotic War, it was honored and told in every family. We knew by the names of many, many heroes who fought to the last and died for our land. For each of us, the triumph of the Soviet soldier is sacred. This is how it was and how it will always be. We honor the memory of the heroic past of the liberating people. And we must do everything so that our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren remember these lessons of history.
The people of Donbass actually proved their commitment to truth and sacred duty when in 2014 they rebelled against attempts to trample on our main values and life guidelines.
We did not flinch or cave in. What we survived and were able to build in the republic over these years became possible thanks to the traditions of courage and heroism. Thanks to the example – the eternal example – of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War,” said Pushilin.
As a token of gratitude for the unforgettable feat, the head of the DPR presented flowers to the veterans.
“This year, together with millions of people around the world, we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Victory over the fascist invaders. And the further in time we move away from this event, the more often we need to turn to the memory of it. So that enemies do not have a single chance to trample on the feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War.
2020 in the Donetsk People's Republic is declared the Year of the Great Victory. We will not forget our history and will not allow it to be distorted. We will always be worthy of the feat of the victorious people!” – added Denis Pushilin.
