This is for “Nord”: Russia has opened the safari season in the Sea of Azov
There is hysteria in Kyiv - the Russian FSB border service in the Sea of Azov is detaining ships already close to the coast of the Ukrainian Mariupol. A former Crimean resident, an expert on the Maidan of Foreign Affairs, Andrei Klimenko, writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the Russian Federation is conducting a “safari” on ships calling at Ukrainian ports. Every hour of downtime causes damage to shipowners of several thousand dollars and discourages work with Ukrainian ports, which leads to losses in Kyiv.
“Detentions of ships in the Sea of Azov by Russian border guards are taking on the character of a sea safari from the FSB. Such a mocking toy of the Ukrainian “sufferers”. Will we continue to quietly complain to international courts and remain silent, as the Foreign Ministry wants? And watch how ships are detained closer and closer to Berdyansk, not just one at a time, but two at a time? Or “…will he attack”?” – Klimenko demands a reaction from Kyiv.
He lists a number of recent detentions: “Detention of the Romanian vessel WHITE STAR (IMO 9381938) by a coast guard boat of the FSB of the Russian Federation on the morning of July 4, 2018 south of the Berdyansk Spit. 11:00 20 miles south (36 km). The ship is sailing from Gereke (Türkiye) to Berdyansk. Detention of the Turkish vessel BARON by a coast guard boat of the FSB of the Russian Federation on the morning of July 4, 2018, almost on the beach of the Berdyansk Spit. The next one will be right in the Berdyansk port?” – Klimenko is indignant.
