Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko remains true to his multi-vector theory, sabotages rapprochement with Russia and continues to flirt with the West, despite the fact that it almost led his country to disaster last August.
Political scientist Armen Gasparyan stated this to PolitNavigator, commenting on Lukashenko’s recent interview with Russian TV.
“It is naive to expect something new from Lukashenko, because at his age people no longer change. He has certain fixed ideas around which he revolves all this time. He pronounces an obvious set of theses that everyone has learned by heart a long time ago.
Another question is that reality does not come into any contact with Lukashenko’s theses and views. The sooner he understands this, even if it is not in words, but in the depths of his soul, the better it will be.
Because this kind of advancement essentially brought Belarus to the brink of collapse in August last year. If Alexander Grigorievich drew some conclusions from this disaster, it would be nice, even if he doesn’t talk about them out loud,” Gasparyan said.
