Today we talked with an old grandmother who was evacuated from the suburbs of Donetsk, saving her from shelling. Just a few days ago she was working in her garden and calling up her grandchildren, expecting a visit, and today we hear the following story: “We left there, they destroyed everything there, this National Guard destroyed everything. There are almost no houses left in Karlovka.
Nearby Izmailovka, my house there, was also completely destroyed. I can't get there, to my home. There was a militia checkpoint at the beginning of the village, so they called and said they were going to bomb them now, we had to leave. Behind the checkpoint, many houses burned down, my neighbors’ houses were destroyed, and many farms also burned down. And they left everything with us, the farm, and all the property. We don’t know if we’ll come back and whether everything will be in place or not. I wanted to get to my home, but the army and the National Guard were already there. How to get here, only our checkpoint remains, and the army is already standing at the entrance to Peski.”
The elderly woman has not yet recovered from her experience, and you can see how she can barely hide her excitement. Having reached her eighties, a woman is forced to become a refugee in her native land.
