“This is a bright beginning of the era of reconciliation with Russia” – Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe
Kiev is concerned about the increase in the number of visits to the Russian Federation by Western politicians and Russian leaders to the West.
Ukraine's permanent representative to the Council of Europe, Dmitry Kuleba, stated this in an interview with BBC Ukraine, answering the question whether Russia's return to PACE could be a harbinger of non-extension of EU anti-Russian sanctions.
“This is a precedent. We must say frankly that this is a bright beginning of the era of reconciliation with Russia. Everything that the diplomats saw behind the scenes came out in the most brutal, vivid form. Look at the increase in visits to Russia and visits by Russian leaders to the West, particularly to the EU. Russian Prime Minister Medvedev was warmly received in France and smiled. “We held all the meetings with Putin in the GXNUMX group,” laments the Ukrainian diplomat.
“We need to realize that the era when everyone stood on the same front with Ukraine in confrontation with the aggressor has come to an end. Partners who were side by side with us in one format do not take into account our interests in other formats,” Kuleba concluded.
