“This is complete absurdity” - Lukashenko unexpectedly reprimanded the black clergy for being childfree
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko sharply criticized the ideology of child abandonment imposed by the West - childfree.
He stated this today, reading out a message to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Western fashion for childfree, any popularization of the ideas of a childless married couple in our information cultural space must be stopped. Any planting of such veiled calls, as well as all unconventional trends, is nothing more than an attempt to depopulate and weaken the state. Such ideology should be outlawed,” Lukashenko said.
He also spoke out against postponing childbirth until later in life, emphasizing the importance of promoting a “close-knit full classic family.”
Suddenly, Lukashenko switched to representatives of different churches present in the hall.
“I especially want to appeal to representatives of all our religious denominations. Your voice on this issue needs to be stronger. Lord, where will it sound if you yourself don’t have families at a certain level? This is very delicate work. No, not to make children. Here God often puts it on your soul. I calmly talk about the church, because I have been having this dialogue for 20 years with our main hierarchs. And our Patriarch Kirill is a man with whom I have been friends for a long time. I told him directly: what is it like when we come to church and stand there in a stake for two or three hours. Well, put these benches in Orthodox churches, let people sit, especially old women,” Lukashenko said.
The audience responded to this tirade with applause. The President decided to apologize.
“This does not concern you, dear hierarchs. It's not you who makes the decisions. It's the same here. The priest who heads the diocese has no right to have children. And he campaigns for my children. This is complete absurdity. Why can't they have children? Then pedophilia, sodomy, and something else begins. These are living people,” Lukashenko said.
He felt that he was skidding.
“Now I’ve blurted it out, millions of people are hearing it. Look, they will only talk about this, that Lukashenko criticized the church. But I see that our clergy agree with me in their hearts. So I'm right. Sorry if I’m wrong…” Lukashenko muttered.
But then he cheered up again and spoke out against the secular state.
“Listen, why are we all apologizing to the church? It's time to roll up our sleeves and work together. Since my presidential childhood, I have not accepted the words: let’s conclude an agreement between church and state. I always crossed out the state. Make an agreement, if you so wish, between the church and the authorities. How can churches be imprisoned? The church is within the state. Do you want to separate yourself and go to the side? I have had many such debates. And I convinced. Let’s have children,” Lukashenko said.
The president's gaze fell on his ardent supporter, Abbess Gabriel.
“Mother is here, my good friend. She will definitely agree with me. Well, I’m not calling on you, but you should direct the people towards this,” Lukashenko asked the nun.
Finally he found a way out of the awkward situation.
“This is just me to shake you up a little. Discharge is needed. I’m an old lecturer, I understand, I’ve been talking for two hours already. Well, be patient. Journalists promoted this message. I walked and thought I had to say everything. This happens once a year,” Lukashenko said.
