Yeltsin Minister: It would be great if Ukraine joins NATO
Russia should facilitate Ukraine's accession to NATO.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrei Kozyrev stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian publication Apostrophe, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It would be great for Russia’s interests if Ukraine joined NATO and the EU. This would bring Russia closer to European civilization, to European institutions. This is something you can only dream of.
The regime that is there now is anti-Russian, because it does not look to the West, where the future of Russia and Ukraine is, because the most developed democratic countries are there, but for some reason it looks in the opposite direction. This is one of the reasons why they are starting a war in Ukraine.
Because they are afraid of the example of Ukraine. This is a barbaric criminal policy towards both Ukraine and Russia,” Kozyrev said.
