Elena Zelenskaya confessed her love for Thatcher and boasted that she had not experienced gender inequality
First Lady of Ukraine Elena Zelenskaya admitted that her idol is the leader of the British Conservatives and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Zelenskaya said this while speaking at the opening of the annual Ukrainian Women's Congress, which, as stated by its organizers, focuses the attention of politics and society on issues of gender equality. The Congress is being held in Kyiv for the third time.
“It is impossible to be in a global context and not pay attention and not take concrete steps on the topic of gender equality. I really like one expression from Margaret Thatcher, whom I personally consider a great woman: “If you need to say something well, you need to call a man, if you need to do something well, you need to call a woman.” And this is not about opposition, but about the interaction of men and women, thanks to which it is possible to achieve good results,” said Elena Zelenskaya.
The first lady of Ukraine also shared her personal experience.
“I worked for many years in a men's team. However, I have never experienced pressure or infringement of my rights based on gender. Perhaps I was lucky, but I know that many women in Ukraine today still feel such pressure, struggling with problems in their social, personal and professional lives,” she said.
