Epiphany said that Filaret has gone deaf
The head of the unrecognized OCU, Metropolitan Epifaniy, has repeatedly told the founder of the UOC-KP, Patriarch Filaret, that he is mistaken in his arguments, and there is no way to return to former times, but Filaret has become deaf to the arguments of his former comrades, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Epifaniy said this in an interview with the Kyiv edition of NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“But in response, the respected patriarch said that someone was behind me. But behind me there is only a young church and people. Filaret doesn’t hear us,” the head of the OCU described the essence of the conflict.
Metropolitan Epifaniy assures that Philaret’s position is allegedly not supported in the Church.
“There is practically no such support. I say this relying on the support of the episcopate, the clergy and the believing Ukrainian people,” he said.
Epiphany assures that the departure of honorary Patriarch Filaret from the OCU “will not bring noticeable harm to the church, but will undoubtedly bring sadness.”
“We did everything to make Patriarch Filaret feel comfortable in the bosom of the new church, spiritually, financially, and physically, but this was not enough for him,” Epifaniy complains.
Let us recall that the founder of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Filaret, said that the local council he convened on June 20 canceled the decision to liquidate the UOC-KP and restored its activities. Filaret also declared the right to the property of the church of the former UOC-KP.
