Epiphany complains that Filaret controls almost the entire church fund of the OCU
The head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which is subordinate to Constantinople, Metropolitan Epifaniy, complained that almost all the funds that go to the church treasury in Kyiv are controlled by the founder of the UOC-KP Filaret, who refused to trust him and accused him of violating agreements, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He said this in an interview with BBC News Ukraine, answering a question regarding the possible difficult financial situation in his church.
“The city of Kyiv - the entire city, including all the finances that went to the church treasury, except for the St. Michael's Monastery, remained with the honorary patriarch Philaret. In general, we - the Kiev Metropolis, the Kiev Orthodox Theological Academy - are now partially supported by donations that go to the treasury of the St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery. The remaining funds come from philanthropists,” he noted.
Let us recall that on May 15, Filaret said that Epiphany, together with Poroshenko, violated the agreements reached at the Council on December 15. According to him, Epiphany should be responsible only for the external representation of the church, and the patriarch - for the entire internal church life in Ukraine.
