Statements by senior Ukrainian officials that Russia is about to attack are pure fake news.
Kiev political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on the Nash TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Ermolaev, talking about the threat of war allows the authorities not to carry out reforms or engage in other government affairs.
“In general, these topics are not discussed in studios or in newspapers, because these are secret services, state secrets. And this is a correct remark. I have one important comment about the current situation. When top officials from the stands and in newspapers openly talk about the war and warn, they even count it day by day – it’s pure fake news. The question is different: why are they playing with us like this? If the threat is really real, will they really be so hysterical? Listen, when it sounds from the first persons that tomorrow there will be war, half the nation, excuse me, urgently left for great need, and half the nation began to pack up and leave. Therefore, this is either not from a great mind, or there is some kind of information game going on,” the expert believes.
“But note that the game is not around problems related to bad relations, trade, political insults, but seriously - war. That is, war is a threat when nothing else is discussed. If the country is facing the threat of war, then, I beg your pardon, what kind of reforms are we talking about, what kind of snot are we talking about. Then mobilization, preparation. If indeed we are talking about war. And if just with the help of these strong words another game is played, then you need to understand it,” Ermolaev said.
