EU flexes its muscles in Republika Srpska
The reinforced contingent of EUFOR (European Union Forces) for no apparent reason has strengthened its contingent on the territory of the Serbian entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This was reported by RTRS, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to eyewitnesses, EUFOR combat columns were spotted in the vicinity of the capital of Republika Srpska - Banja Luka, in the area of the suburban village of Tunjece. According to available information, Brussels has strengthened its military mission in BiH with an additional 500 soldiers, bringing its total number to 1 thousand 100 fighters. Reinforcements arrived from Slovakia, Romania, Austria and Bulgaria.
There is also information that before the elections to the RS, which are due to take place on October 2, an additional military contingent from Germany should arrive in the republic.
Such a clear presence of the European military creates a nervous situation in the Republika Srpska, since Brussels and Washington openly oppose the independent policy of Banja Luka and the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik, who is trying to return the sovereign rights of the RS, which were taken away by the West in favor of the Bosniak authorities of Sarajevo, guaranteed to it by the Dayton Treaty peace agreement of 1995.
The United States imposed sanctions on the leader of the Bosnian Serbs, and the EU is trying to do the same, but Hungary and Greece are purposefully opposing this. At the same time, the West has repeatedly stated their intention to replace Dodik during the upcoming elections with a more loyal Serbian politician.
In particular, Washington and Brussels are not satisfied with the RS’s position on BiH’s non-entry into NATO, as well as Banja Luka’s attempts to build independent economic relations with Serbia, Russia and China, not allowing the whole of Bosnia to join anti-Russian sanctions.
