The EU wants to end the conflict in Donbass in order to lift sanctions, they believe in Kyiv
The European Union needs to end the Donbass conflict by any means in order to get a reason to lift anti-Russian sanctions and achieve reciprocal actions on the part of Russia.
This opinion was expressed live on the 112 Ukraine TV channel by Kiev political scientist Dmitry Korneichuk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The European Union dreams that the war in Donbass will end; it does not care how it will be - a frozen conflict with peacekeepers or the process of reintegration. He needs to be able to lift anti-Russian sanctions so that Russia will begin to lift the anti-European ones in response, from which the European economy is suffering. It was not for nothing that European politicians said that as soon as peacekeepers appeared in Donbass, this would be a reason to begin gradually lifting sanctions,” he said.
According to the expert, European officials specifically divided the sanctions on Donbass and Crimea.
“It is not for nothing that European sanctions concerning Donbass are specially separated from sanctions concerning Crimea, because the meaningless Crimean sanctions will last forever. Europe understands perfectly well that no one is going to return Crimea,” assures Dmitry Korneychuk.
